Antonello Piras, a 21-year-old from Lula, turned himself into the Carabinieri of the Bitti company this morning, confessing to killing his uncle Nico. The incident occurred on the night between Sunday and Monday, during the Cortes Apertas celebrations in the village. The young man testified that his uncle had provoked and insulted him at a kiosk. He tried to walk away and went to another kiosk, but his uncle followed him, showing him a gun and threatening to make him suffer the same fate as his father. This caused Antonello to lose control and he pulled out a rifle he had with him and fired. The prosecutor from the Nuoro court, Ireno Satta, and Marshal Giovanni Ciancilla were present during his confession. Antonello was accompanied by his lawyers, Francesco Mossa and Giovanni Colli, as well as his mother and sister. It was revealed through his confession that the murder weapon was not a pistol but a rifle. Previous reports had mentioned two shots fired from a pistol into the victim’s abdomen, which proved fatal as they damaged several internal organs. Antonello had returned to Lula over the weekend to attend the Cortes Apertas festivities after working as a waiter in Costa Smeralda throughout the summer.
