“Naska spiega: perché ho rifiutato Amici e come ho reagito al tentativo di influenzarmi”

Diego Caterbetti, known as Naska, is a prominent figure in the Italian pop punk scene. Starting as a rapper in a small town with 800 inhabitants, Naska’s music career took a significant turn when he moved to Milan. In a recent interview with Corriere, he talked about his journey, including the opportunity to participate in the talent show Amici, which he ultimately declined. Naska felt that Amici was not the right fit for him as he would have had to change his lyrics and alter his persona. Money was not his priority, and he valued artistic freedom more. He discussed how his appearance became a double-edged sword, and this was one of the reasons he refused Amici. He felt that the show emphasized his looks more than his music, which left him feeling disappointed. However, Naska did not rule out the possibility of participating in the Sanremo Festival in the future, albeit on his own terms, with his tattoos and his unique style.

Naska’s move to Milan marked a turning point in his career, and he developed a routine while juggling various jobs to support himself. He woke up, worked on his songs, took a lunch break, and reserved Saturday nights for letting loose. An anarchist at heart, he emphasized that he never intended to cause harm to anyone. Many young people resonate with Naska’s music, which showcases themes of relationships, partying, rebellion, and individuality. He has recently collaborated with another punk band called La Sad on the single “Summersad 4,” and a deluxe edition of his album “Nella mia stanza” is set to be released on September 29th. Throughout the interview, Naska also shared insights into his childhood, which was filled with a deep passion for music. He grew up dreaming of being in a band and cites Sum 41 and Blink-182 as his musical influences, along with icons such as Kurt Cobain, whose diaries he has read.
