Hamas leader meets Iran’s Supreme Leader in Tehran
Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of Hamas, has been welcomed in Tehran where he met with Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who reiterated support for the organization. Khamenei emphasized that “Iran’s permanent policy is to support the forces of Palestinian Resistance against the Zionist occupiers,” as reported by the Iranian news agency Irna. Yesterday, news of Haniyeh’s trip to Iran had already circulated from Lebanese sources, but no details had been leaked regarding the actual date of the trip and the meetings held in Tehran.
Khamenei called for serious action from Islamic countries and international organizations, as well as full and practical support from Islamic governments for the population of Gaza. During the meeting, Haniyeh provided updates on the latest developments in Gaza and the “crimes of the Zionist regime,” as well as the latest developments in the West Bank, according to the Iranian news agency.
The Supreme Leader, in turn, thanked the resolute people of Gaza for their resistance and strongly condemned “the crimes committed by the Zionist regime with the direct support of the United States and some Western countries.”
Meanwhile, in Israel, Justice Minister Yariv Levin is working on a bill against the ‘deniers’ of the massacre carried out by Hamas on October 7. According to ‘Haaretz’, the minister himself announced this, stating that he was “shocked” by the statements made by Member of Knesset Iman Khatib-Yassin from the Joint List, who claimed in a television interview to have ‘heard firsthand’ that the footage of Hamas attacks did not show the rape of women and the killing of children.
The parliamentarian admitted to not having personally seen the videos released by the armed forces. She also stated that the acts committed by Hamas members were inhumane and contrary to the values of Islam.
“I was shocked by the harsh remarks made by Member of Knesset Iman Khatib-Yassin, in which she denies the terrible massacre carried out by Hamas terrorists on October 7. Just a few days ago, before Khatib-Yassin’s words – emphasizes Minister Levin – I instructed the experts at the Ministry of Justice to draft a bill that would prohibit the denial of the massacre and establish severe punishment for those who do so.”
